FAT BIKE FRIDAY SINGLE TRACK ADVENTURE!!!! November 3rd. Perfect morning. Running early to work. Stanley thermos of coffee in my bag. Ride past work to explore some single track around a nearby lake! Up a kind of sketchy hill around the lake, slipping and sliding in leaves, and to a cool log cut out. Pause for coffee. - Onward! Things flatten out, riding along a metal barbwire like fence, cruising pretty fast when out of nowhere comes a tree. Thought I could fit....rammed my shoulder into the tree instead. Being slightly more cautious I ride on until I come to a sweet little obstacle. I cross it then check my phone for the time. I drink more coffee. My glasses fog in the lovely MN humidity. I realize I am running late for work now and I need to turn around. Cruising back through the single track I had already crossed I get sloppy. Shoulder check the tree again, clip my pedal on a stump, twist my ankle hopping a log, nearly launch myself into the lake when my rear wheel catches a tree root and I grab on to a tree to save myself. Made it to work in one piece! Turns out I am the only female to ride this stretch and I got a KOM. Can't wait to go back! |
